Sunil Shanbag's Arpana Theatre is bringing to life tiatr- a form of musical theatre that finds its roots in Goa - with its brand new production LORETTA. The production is part of Aadyam's second edition. Aadyam is a theatre initiative by the Aditya Birla Group, which was started last year.
The play will open in Mumbai on 2nd April at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA, and will also have a show on 3rd April. This is the second play, out of five, to be staged under the Aadyam banner, which opened its edition this year withCinematograph'sI DON'T LIKE IT AS YOU LIKE IT.
Shanbag was part of last year's line-up too when he helmed MERE PIYA GAYE RANGOON.
With LORETTA this year, Shanbag is inspired by the popular Goan genre in its geographical and social context while giving the audiences a heady dose of humour.
Shanbag says, "LORETTA addresses substantial cultural issues with the help of the distinctive features of the genre. It is inspired by tiatr and will see familial and social issues being dealt with in a manner that's typical of the genre.''
