The annual comedy festival hosted by the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) titled NCPA Cheer has some unique acts lined up this year. The three-day festival starts from 3rd June and finishes on 5th June.
Deepa Gahlot, Head - Programming Theatre & Films, NCPA says, ''Year on year we host a celebration of comedy, wit and laughter through NCPA Cheer, making it one of our most awaited festivals of the year. This year we have curated a mix of all things new and funny, presented by some of finest comic artistes in the country.''
The festival opens with comedian Karthik Kumar presenting a 90-minute set that celebrates almost everything that is second-best. Next up will be Bandra's Timepass Talkies who will be taking digs at iconic Bollywood movies.
The second day of the festival will showcase Audiomatic- Our Last Week's - live podcast- presented by comedian Anubhav Pal and Bollywood actor Kunaal Roy Kapoor. Moving on, Improv Comedy Mumbai (ICM) will present ICM Popcorn, which is a play carved out from suggestions from the audience. This will be followed by Sorabh Pant's stand-up act titled My Baby Thinks I'm Funny, where Pant is going to share his experiences of parenthood.
The last day of the festival will showcase a comedy-thriller drama called SHOT IN THE DARK, a Stagecraft Theatre's presentation. The play is partially based on Marcel Achard's French play L'Idiote' (THE IDIOT) , and is directed by Vikash Khurana. The festival will close with renowned comedian Papa CJ's set titled A Comedian's Tale.
