The Shankar Shesh Mahotsav (festival) 2017

This year will be the second edition of the Dr. Shankar Shesh theatre festival which is put together by his son Sanjay Shesh. The late playwright's plays are still among the frequently performed plays in Hindi theatre, and have been previously directed by leading directors of their time, such as Jaidev Hattangadi.

Sanjay Shesh in memory of his father, and as a tribute to his work, has not only found this festival but also holds monthly readings of his father's plays. He has also been contemplating a foundation for his father, which would promote Hindi theatre.

One of Dr. Shesh's famous plays, EK AUR DRONACHARYA, produced by IPTA Mumbai, is part of this year's edition. It was recently staged at the Nehru Theatre Festival as well.

The festival will be held on 28th and 29th October 2017 at Sathaye College auditorium in Vile Parle East. Four plays in all will be staged at this year's edition of the festival.
