Namit  Das - artist details :

Namit Das

Namit  Das Namit Das is quite young but he already has around six productions to his credit. He is twenty-one years old and has worked with directors, Nadir Khan, Atul Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal and recently with RADA trained Imogen Butler-Cole.

He has acted in plays such as NOISES OFF!, SHADOW BOX, AASHAD KA EK DIN and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. His performance in the Mohen Rakesh classic directed by Chandan Roy Sanyal was quite nice. In 2005 he also took part in the annual Prithvi Juloos, which was directed by Yuki Elias.

According to Namit, his inclination towards the stage was kind of omnipresent ever since he was a small child. His grandfather, K. Pannalal is a renowned artiste in Delhi. His father, Chandan Das is a Ghazal singer. Namit thus to begin with wanted to be a Khayal singer. His college life however introduced him to the theatre. Music sort of took a back seat then as he found himself doing three plays at a time! Before he could even think of returning to music, a tele-serial titled ‘Pancham’ by Zee TV was offered to him. He played the lead in the serial for a year and found that he enjoyed the camera as much as he did the stage.

In MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, which is directed by Imogen Butler-Cole, he has not only acted but has also composed music. Namit says that this is the first time that he has composed music for the stage and is enjoying the experience of it. This young theatre person no doubt has a talent that can be watched out for.His recent plays include Q Theatre Productions' THE PRESIDENT IS COMING.
