Siddhahem

By MTG editorial

SIDDHAHEM is a theatrical exhibit of the work of Acharya Shri Hemchandra, a scholar of Jainism. Born in 1089 AD, Acharya Hemchandra is said to have created 30 million shlokas in the 84 years of his erudite life. He composed several other literary works that included many verses.

He was against alcoholism, animal sacrifice and promoted Ahimsa. The Acharya was the first one to put non-violence on a political platform. He is regarded as the architect of the greatness and unity of Gujarat. In the field of metaphysics, he was a Yogi. His work Yoga-Shastra, a treatise on yoga, is famous amongst his literary and philosophical output.

People called him Kali-kala Sarvajna- the ‘all-knower in the dark period’. The Jain culture is still said to be shining brightly in Gujarat, due to the influence of the literary works contributed by the great scholar.
