Jugniram, a common & innocent Indian wants to visit Delhi to listen to the Prime Minister's speech on the eve of Independence Day. He is proud of our Independence. He has a perception that the country is in a good condition & all the problems have been resolved after attaining independence. His wife is very intelligent. She is very sceptical about his journey as she knows that the infrastructure is not safe enough for him to travel. She is worried that he might meet with an accident. Jugni is able to convince his wife & leaves on horseback.
During his journey he comes across many unemployed, poor, miserable, economically deprived, unhappy people. The entire experience makes him realise that even after 63 yers of Independence, India hasn't achieved economic freedom. He decides to discuss it with the Prime minister. However his efforts to meet the P.M are in vain as he is not allowed to meet the P.M and is beaten up brutally. The play talks about the need of economic freedom & that it is still not too late.
