SMART CITY is a musical adaptation of popular satire INSPECTOR GENERAL by Russian dramatist and novelist Nikolai Gogol. The play opens in a small town in Haryana, where the DIG of the town encircles his trusted group, who hold various positions in the bureau, to inform them of a mysterious man who would soon come to inspect their town. And if he finds all well, he'll declare their town as SMART CITY. In the bid to ensure that he gets famous by getting this prestigious title for his town, the DIG sets about trying to figure the identity of this mysterious man and then convince him in not-so-honest ways to grant him the title in exchange for whatever his heart desires. What unfolds next is a comedy of errors as the eccentric characters proceed to make one side splitting error after the other, landing them in an unexpected conclusion to this entire exercise.
