Arts Creative Theatre, founded by a group of young college students, has expanded over the years. Act does issue based plays. Every month, they stage eight plays, where at least two plays are new. Act also conducts workshops for kids and adults. Apart from doing issue based plays, Act also does plays that are funny and light. One such play is Wah Bhai Wah.
Story In Short:The world we live in is competitive. It becomes difficult to get anything easily, even respectable bridegrooms. In order to get a bridegroom, the bride's family should have a certain status in society, a certain annual income. But then, there's no guarantee that what you get will keep you happy. Parents looking out for eligible bridegrooms for their daughters wish to have handsome, smart, highly qualified, well-settled men who come from reputable families. They also hope to find grooms for their daughters who are financially well established and live separately from their parents. But they tend to forget that it is impossible to get all these qualities in one person at the same time. If he is an honest person then he may not be rich, if he is rich he may not be highly qualified and may be dependent on his father's business. If he belongs to a good family, he may not be handsome and many other things. Wah Bhai Wah focuses on the issue of marriage.
In the play, a father is on the lookout for an eligible bridegroom for his only daughter, who is of a marriageable age. He meets many young men but is not happy, as they do not match up to his standards because his expectations are high. Moreover, all the young men that he comes across only eye his wealth. Having lost hope he sinks into depression. But all of a sudden, he gets a call from his friend who is also on the lookout for a suitable bride, for his only son. The bride's father then decides to get his daughter married to his friend's son. In the meantime, the girl's father has an employee (Munim) who is a rogue. He wishes to grab his master's wealth. And in order to do so, he brings some stranger and makes him pose as the groom. But then, the real son arrives and this leads to a lot of comical situations and confusion! But finally, the daughter confesses that she loves the imposter. The father has no choice but to give in.
