Baby (Marathi)

By MTG editorial

The world was never a level playing field - some were always the children of lesser God - damned, brutalized, tormented, and condemned to a life of hell ... whose shrieks never escaped the confines of the cellars where they lay buried - till they met their deliverer. But, was he? Is there a real messiah? Or does history never repeat itself, thus robbing the present of all good the past had to offer? So, will there be no Moses to deliver the bonded to the Promised Land? Will there be no Krishna to rescue the destitute and give them the dignity of a wife?

A woman has been conditioned by thousands of years of mute acceptance that the Female is but only a slave to the master - the Male - who is 'Dominance' personified. There are occasional sparks of the 'understanding' male who tries to achieve the unrealistic balance between looking at a woman as an object of lust and at the same time deifying her. His beliefs may flow through ballads and odes and free expression and all this may even raise him to an iconic status - a silent messiah - the one who can blow the Winds of Change, and the one who inspires the downtrodden to pick up the sword, to revolt. On the other hand, we have the middle class male who has been reduced to 'guard' the 'honor' of his female folk - be it a sibling, a mate, or maybe the dignity of the womb that mothered him, sometimes driven to brink of insanity, which is nothing but his 'defense mechanism' to hide his inability to protect what he wanted to - but does he really need to protect? Isn't this just another form of 'ownership'? Every woman is blessed with the inner power of self preservation from being brutalized - It is just whether she wants to use it...

'Every man and every woman' is a pervert - the degree varies - some are sadists while the others complement this disorder by their masochism - both co-exist and neither can survive alone. One can't ignore the fact that some women may allow their dignity to be degraded, in the hope that they will, after all, need a male to survive. This needs to change and has changed, though not radically! The present may not agree with the past and the future may not necessarily consent with the present and one may still debate the basic, genetic make-up of the male of the human species vs. the female - the conflict's eternal and the war still on - only the conquered and conqueror change... Entropy always increases and this is the harsh, cold reality and the sooner we accept this, the sooner we can cope with it...
