Over forty years ago, the late Vijay Tendulkar wrote GIDHADE. Sai Paranjape directed the play in Hindi. Later, Dr Shriram Lagoo directed and starred in the play in Marathi. Four years ago it was revived and yet again we have a new production. This is a classic Tendulkar story dealing with the dark, reprehensible traits of humankind. Gidhade meaning vultures that ruthlessly scavenge and prey upon the dead carcasses are a metaphor for the family in the play. This new production is enhanced by Padeep Mulye's set and Rahul Ranade's music.
