Like any other couple Shyam Rao and Malti never agreed on anything but despite all their differences, they never thought of divorcing each other - even after 35 long years! Now their two children are grown up. While the son has already separated from them after his marriage, the daughter has opted for love marriage with a man not from their community. Thus the ageing couple is left alone to itself. They decide to remain indifferent to the worldly affairs around them.

Just then Leena, a young paying guest walks into their lives. She has severed her relationship with her parents for some reason. Uncannily enough, Shyam Rao and Malti find themselves drawn to this parentless girl. A new relationship emerges between them, defeating their resolve of not getting involved in anything!
