Welcome to the world of the Clown!
There are as many definitions of a CLOWN, as there are clowns in the world. It depends on an individuals personal perception about a clown, as per ones own experiences and present reality.
The role of the clown as a mediator comes from using the clown's nose, which as a mask, unmasks our inner self. It has the ability to transform the performer's physical appearance.
Clowns truly communicate with their bodies, the language of the simple, honest heart; their nave way of living life to the full, counterbalances neatly, the dominant value system of a society which praises efficiency, success, achievement and productivity.
The physicality of the clown subconsciously reminds the audience of the freedom of the body.
The red nose encourages us to challenge our own self-image, destabilises it, which in turn, destabilises us. The red nose invites us to take a step to one side; urging us to disentangle ourselves from this self-image and gives permission for human beings to be human, enjoying an archaic connection to oneself and with each other.
Nonsense shakes the tightened net of perception and airs the dried out mind.
Laughing connects people. In the moment of laughter, there is no thinking. It is a spontaneous act and not constrained. All it requires is for one to be open to shared laughter, joy, playfulness, lightness, honesty, fun and a tiny portion of craziness.
Clowns Without Borders
Clowns Without Borders are clowns, acrobatic and performing artists, who travel to areas of crisis to perform on a voluntary basis for the people who live there. It is our goal to make people laugh from the bottom of their hearts and to provide them with fond memories. Areas of crisis mean surroundings desolated by tragedies like war, natural catastrophes, poverty - different things in different contexts. In areas and conditions of crisis, thoughts, emotions, body and spirituality are traumatised. The clown-aspect or clown-perspective could assist managing difficult situations in life.
The goals of the workshop are:
Discovering the figure of clown from inside and outside, in general, ones very own version of it and the practical use of it in life, to share the fun, joy and experiences we have made with others.
To increase artistic abilities by learning the basics of juggling, balancing, magic tricks, puppet play, etc.
How to perform and improvise with daily items (pen, chair, Paper, clothes)
