Havaldar Chacha is a bachelor and a retired armyman, who has looked after Ravi, the son of a deceased fellow officer as his own. Dearth of money is the only shortcoming in an otherwise happy family and consequently, Shobha refuses to bear Ravi a child so long as they do not have a sumptuous 'bank balance'. On Chachaji's suggestion, the couple decides to let out a few rooms of their spacious ancestral bunglow. The bunglow could not be sold as it was on lease, which is to expire in a couple of years.
In the process of setting up the house for the paying guests, Shobha stumbles upon the will of her aunt, which grants her all of the old lady's property if Shobha will comply with the conditions laid down in the "WILL". Desperate to lay her hands on the money and very much in love with her husband at the same time, Shobha's attempts give rise to hilarious situations
