ROMEO JULIET IN SMART CITIES OF CONTEMPORARY INDIA is a love story based in the suburbs of a metro-city. It revolves around two youngsters Mridul and Vaibhavi who work in a call centre and live on rent separately. Their respective landlords do not allow the presence of any other males or females. This creates problems for both of them as they don't find any personal space to meet each other. So they plan to meet at Mridul's room, but secretly.

Meanwhile the Bhole Bhakt Mandal, a group of fringe elements from the colony and who have local and political support get to know about this plan. They plan to seek revenge from Mridul over a very petty dispute related to some donation.

At last, when Mridul and Vaibhavi are together in Mridul's room, the goons from the Bhole Bhakt Mandal forcefully break the door, enter, and start lynching the couple on the name of religion, culture, society and morality.

The landlord Mehta also supports the Bhole Bhakt Mandal in this cruel act. After all the mental, physical and emotional torture, both Mridul and Vaibhavi mutually decide to take a step which is going to change their life.
