Beautiful people, :-)

Madman and Me invites you to Self-with-Others ~ Physical Theatre Masterclass with John Britton.

The masterclass is an introduction (or a refresher) to Self-with-Others, the training at the heart of John Britton’s work and The DUENDE School of Ensemble Physical Theatre.

His training process - he calls it Self-with-Others - is the basis of all his work. This is your chance to encounter it. This masterclass will offer the participants a foundational approach to understanding:

● The use of their bodies in performance.
● The relationship between discipline of thought and discipline of action.
● Sensitivity to collaborative working.
● Communicate intentions through the body
● Pay detailed attention to exactly what you are doing as you perform.

Self-with-Others
All performance is physical - the audience sees exactly what you do! John’s approach to performance, ‘‘Self-with-Others” is a psychophysical approach which encourages the bringing together of mind and body into every action, the unifying of thought and action. It is based on a set of clear principles - the most important of which is the need for performers to find deep pleasure in their work. If you are not enjoying your work, you are not doing it properly.

About John Britton
John Britton is the founder and Artistic Director of DUENDE. He is also the Director of The DUENDE School of Ensemble Physical Theatre.

For over twenty years he has been developing a unique approach to training performers across disciplines - he calls it ‘Self-with-Others’. It is primarily offered to professional performers - through the work of The DUENDE School of Ensemble Physical Theatre and at institutions such as The Swedish Ballet Academy.
