ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The Director's Actor is a 2-Day Intensive Acting Workshop designed for actors who want to move beyond performance techniques and become director-preferred, set-ready professionals.

This workshop focuses on how directors think, cast, communicate, and trust actors - training participants to deliver emotionally truthful, controlled, and repeatable performances aligned with real film and OTT set requirements.

Sanjeev Sharma Ronkel

Award-Winning Director & Writer | Creator of The RASAROSA Method
Sanjeev Sharma Ronkel is an award-honoured Indian writer-director and nationally recognised creative educator. His professional journey includes associations with Rajshri Productions, Vishesh Films, and Ashtvinayak Cinevision, with a strong theatre foundation under K. N. Panikkar (Padma Bhushan).

He is among the rarest filmmakers in India to be officially honoured with a road named after his film Road to Reform, recognising its real-world social impact. A Limca Book of Records holder and recipient of the DG Police Commendation, his films are studied as curriculum and case material at IIMs, IITs, and international universities.

His work has received rare international acknowledgement, including praise from Daniel Day-Lewis, who described it as 'a work of spirit'. He has also worked on nationally recognised projects with artists such as Amitabh Bachchan and Randeep Hooda.

As a director and mentor, he is known for training actors in emotionally truthful, repeatable, camera-conscious performances, grounded in director�actor trust and professional discipline.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE

This workshop trains actors to:
Understand director expectations and casting psychology
Handle direction with clarity, speed, and emotional balance
Deliver repeatable performances across multiple takes
Build trust, adaptability, and on-set professionalism

DAY 1 : THINK LIKE A DIRECTOR

1. What Directors Really Look For
Why talented actors still don't get cast
Casting beyond talent: temperament, trust, readiness
How directors evaluate actors in auditions and rehearsals

2. Script & Scene Reading (Director's Lens)

Beyond dialogue: intention, beats, pauses, silence
Understanding conflict, subtext, and emotional arcs
Knowing your role within the scene, not just your lines

3. Emotional Intelligence for Actors

Creating emotion without emotional exhaustion
Managing fear, nervousness, and over-performance
Staying available and consistent across takes

4. Camera Awareness & Performance Control

Acting for close-ups, medium shots, and long takes
Power of stillness, restraint, and underplay
Why subtle performances get remembered

DAY 2 : BECOME THE DIRECTOR's ACTOR

Feeling deeply while remaining aware
Performing intense scenes safely

6. Handling Direction Like a Professional
