Sachin Tendulkar A Play dedicated to the Master Blaster

To spread the spirit of Excellence

Directed by Sabyasachi Deb Burman

India is a vast Country. The Society finds itself fragmented along several lines. Be it Economics, Caste or Religion. The single great unifier in this Society of varied influence is undoubtedly Cricket. In our Country, Cricket is more than a Sport. It is a National obsession.

In the Play, Sachin Karmarkar, is the hero of the 'gully Cricket'. A boy who is feted as the 'Tendulkar' of the gully. Sachin Karmarkar's obsession with Cricket and his resultant endlessness in his life do not let him bloom as an individual achiever as his icon. He remains a copy, just a very bad copy of his idol 'Sachin Tendulkar'. Negative influences like Kali only drive him deeper and deeper into the quagmire. Help comes in the form of Vinay, Sachin Karmarkar's brother-in-law. He realizes his mistakes when he loses his lady love Radha.

In the Play, the name 'Sachin Tendulkar' is used not for the person

'Sachin Tendulkar' but as the mataphor, the symbol of Success, the endeavor to go par excellence, which even 'Sachin Tendulkar' aspires today, even after becoming a Legend, as success is an ongoing journey and not a destination. While presenting the name 'Sachin Tendulkar' as phenomenon, the Play says, the 'Will' to become extraordinary is 'Sachin Tendulkar'. The desire to attain impossible from a bear possibility is 'Sachin Tendulkar'. The journey from doom to dazzle is 'Sachin Tendulkar'.

Sachin TendulkarDuring a heated argument, the Play clarifies that we have one 'Sachin Tendulkar' in a team of 11 in Cricket, we need in other sports too, like Boxing, Hockey, Football... we need 'Sachin Tendulkar' in Medicine, Engineering, Industries, Politics, Science, Arts... everywhere. The entire Nation should rise to aspire and become 'Sachin Tendulkar' only then the manifestation of Success will be reached, Achievements will be acquired, Dreams could be fulfilled.

The Play is narrated in a fun filled way. The element of opera adds to the fun and it becomes a big celebration. The humoristic treatment with a touch of strong emotion keeps the audience in splits and there is never a dull moment.
