Vikram Gokhale, RIP

After a stuggle will ill-health, stage, film and television actor, Vikram Gokhale passed away at the age of 77.

Son of actor Chandrakant Gokhale, grandson of Kamala Gokhale the first female child actor of Indian cinema and great grandson of Durgabai Kamat, the first actress on the Indian screen, Gokhale had acting in his blood.

He has done landmark stage plays like BARRISTAR, APPA ANI BAPPA, MAHANAGAR, GHOLAT GHOL, KATHA, JAWAI MAJHA BHALA, KHARA SANGAYCHA TAR, VARHADI ANI VAJANTRI. Even after building a successful career in Hindi and Marathi cinema, Gokhale did not give up theatre, till 2016 when he started having trouble with his voice.

Among the many awards he has won over his career, he was conferred with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2012.
