Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival 2024 Announced

The 19th Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, will held from November 6 - 10, 2024, at the historic Taramati Baradari Cultural Complex in Hyderabad. This five-day festival showcases internationally acclaimed theatre exponents from India and abroad. Curated by Padmashri Mohammad Ali Baig in honour of his father, legendary theatre figure Qadir Ali Baig, this festival is an iconicHyderabad event.


The festival features a diverse range of performances, including classical theatre, satire, love stories, dance theatre, storytelling, and even a stand-up act. Renowned performers such as Ila Arun, Nadira Babbar, Ashish Vidyarthi, K.K. Raina, Himani Sivpuri, Rajendra Gupta, Praveen Kumar, Dolly Thakore, Alexander Wright from the UK, Zila Khan, and Mohammad Ali Baig will be gracing the stage.

The festival features a variety of performances, which includes MIRACLE ON MATUNGA STREET, a satire performed by Ila Arun and K.K. Raina, adapted from Tom Dudzick's play MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISION STREET. Actor Ashish Vidyarthi will present a stand-up act based on his iconic character Vitthal Kaanya from the movie VAASTAV. Nadira Babbar’s Hindi Drama FARIDA, a love story set in Kashmir. THYAGARAJA HRUTH SADHANA - A Dance Theatre piece based on Thyagaraja's writings will be performed by Praveen Kumar of Chithkala School of Dance from Bengaluru. Alexander Wright from the UK will present an interactive Greek storytelling performance, while Zila Khan and Mohammad Ali Baig will perform AN ODE TO MOTHERHOOD, a classical concert and homage to Hyderabad's theatre doyenne Begum Razia Baig, who passed away in March. Begum Razia Baig chaired and co-founded this prestigious theatre festival for 18 consecutive years. Himani Shivpuri and Rajendra Gupta's JEENA ISI KA NAAM HAI and masterclasses by Dolly Thakore, Nadira Babbar, Alexander Wright, and Ashish Vidyarthi will captivate Hyderabad for a week.
