Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek 2024 Marathi One-Act Play Competition Grand Finale

Inter-College and other one-act play competitions have always served as a platform for young talent to exhibit their potential. Astitva's 'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek' is one such platform, which tries to unearth the abundant store of creative ideas in young minds throughout Maharashtra. In fact, it tries to channelize ideas in a certain direction by giving a one-line theme to be developed upon, thus encouraging young writers to write new plays.

'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek', which has been held annually for the past 38 years, has been a stepping stone for many theatre groups all over Maharashtra. It is primarily an opportunity for writers to display their talent. This year the popular event will be conducted jointly by Astitva, BEST Kala Krida and Moraya Events & Entertainment.

The Grand Finale of this Unique one-act play competition in Marathi language will be conducted on Saturday, 05th October 2024. The competition has built a reputation for itself and, as its title indicated, is based on a theme suggested by an eminent theatre personality. Participating writers have to keep the suggested theme in mind while writing their scripts.

Kalpana Ek Avishkaar Anek's themes have been suggested by well-known people in the Arts such as eminent poet Narayan Surve, theatre personality Vijaya Mehta, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Bharat Saasne, Pradeep Rane, Ratnakar Matkari, Satish Alekar, Girish Karnad, Abhiram Bhadkamkar, C.P. Deshpande, Rajan Khan, Gulzaar Saab, Meghana Pethe, Mahesh Elkunchwar, Piyush Mishra, Jayant Pawar, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Sindhutai Sapkal, Bhalchandra Nemade.

For the year 2024, the concept was suggested by Marathi Theatre's iconic Dr. Mohan Agashe.

The theme for this year's competition in Marathi and in its English translation is stated below:

• Kalpana: "MARANPASHCHAAT AYUSHYA / MARANOPARANT"
• English Kalpana: "LIFE AFTER DEATH"
