I, CLOUD

By MTG editorial

I, CLOUD uses the matrix of Kalidas’s MEGHDOOT (Cloud Messenger) but turns it around for the contemporary audience. When a poet is put behind bars for writing an antifundamentalist poem, he beckons ‘icloud’ – the new age messenger, to take his banned poem on social media and ‘make it rain’ - virtual and hopefully, viral. In MEGHDOOT, Yasksha gives a detailed account of his impending journey to the cloud messenger, but here, the imprisoned poet paints a picture of the landscape of social media. All this while, giving him company is his muse Kaavya, a figment of his imagination. Piece after piece, the poet recalls his personal journey tinged with tongue-in-cheek observations to iCloud who reacts with innocent amusement and to Kaavya, who has a song for every occasion. I, CLOUD dwells on pertinent social issues of individual freedom and expression and the unwritten but very persistent boundaries of social media.

A theatre piece featuring poems by Mayur Puri.
