Temul Adajania, who is struggling with bankruptcy and heavy debt, receives a will from his late uncle, Shapoorji, who passed away in Africa. The will leaves him a property worth Rs. 5 Crores; however, Temul is only entitled to the interest during his lifetime. Upon his death, the entire wealth is set to go to his cousin, Sheriyar Irani, who has been missing in Iran for many years.

To claim the full wealth, Temul's wife, Yasmin, devises a plan where Temul fakes his own death in an explosion and returns disguised as Sheriyar. The plan hits a snag when Sheriyar's fiancee, Gover, arrives, forcing Temul to continue his charade as her husband. Jealous and seeking a way for the property to fall directly to her, Yasmin then fakes "Sheriyar's" death by drowning, allowing Temul to return as a "family friend.

The situation descends into total mayhem when Soma, the house servant, brings in his brother Khushal (a Sheriyar lookalike) to claim the money, just as the real Sheriyar returns from Iran. In a desperate final bid to secure at least the interest, Yasmin "resurrects" Temul, claiming he merely suffered temporary memory loss.

In the climax, a final message from Africa reveals that the whole property goes to.
