LAGNA NU GAADU CHAALE AADU

By Sanjay Shah

Trust Avni, the prestigious Gujarati theatre banner of Amee Trivedi, to set new milestones. The banner, which gave 2001's biggest hit, Lajja Taney Mara Sam is now back with new drama Lagangaadu Chaale Aadu. And the most interesting thing about this is the fact that it has already premiered in London before formally opening in Mumbai on November 16.

"At Avni, we believe in giving the best to viewers," producer-actress Amee Trivedi says about her newest venture, "and Lagangaadu Chaale Aadu is one such drama that everyone will like to see more than once." Directed by the trusted director of the banner Umesh Parekh, LGCA is an interesting tale of couple and a family. Speaking about the drama, Parekh says, "It's a drama of love, of happiness, of relationships and fun. We have narrated the story of families and any viewer will find something or the other to relate it to himself." Sanjay V. Shah, a journalist who is also associated with MumbaiTheatreGuide.com, makes his debut as a playwright with this drama. He says, "Writing a drama for such a fabulous team is nothing less than a dream come true. I have tried to deliver the best. LGCA is one drama which viewers will remember for long."

The drama stars Sanat Vyas, Amee Trivedi, Vipul Vithlani, Manisha Purohit, Jimit Trivedi, Mihir Rajda and Leena Shah. It has music by Uday Mazumdar and art by Chhel-Paresh. The light designing is done by Sujit Udaphyay while the song is penned by Mukesh Joshi.

Lagangaadu Chaale Aadu is the first Gujarati drama till date that has premiered in London and not in Mumbai. In its 10-day long tour abroad, the drama would have performed shows not only in London but also in Antwerp and Dubai. What's more fascinating is the fact that the foreign organizers had consented to do the shows of this drama even before seeing a single minute of it. Hitesh Jhaveri, who is the man behind making this tour possible, says, "The Avni banner has created very high goodwill with its maiden drama Lajja...world over. And as I know this team personally, I know for sure that they can never make a just another drama. I happy extremely happy the way this drama has turned out and I feel that it will become one of the biggest hits of the year."
Lagangaadu Chaale Aadu will premiere in Mumbai at Tejpal Hall on November 16. Meanwhile, it will be back from foreign tour just a day before that. Let's wait for this drama.
