MEHTA V/S MEHTA is a play that speaks lengths about patriarchy. It is a story of one Mehta family which comprises of the patriarch of the house Yogesh Mehta who is famous for his Yogesh Mehta guarantee at every little thing, Jyoti Mehta – wife of Yogesh and the most innocent one who is at the crosshairs of her husband almost all the time, Rinkal – the younger daughter who is about to marry a boy based in Silicon Valley as her father asked her to do so and Prachi Mehta the elder daughter who is supposedly happily married to Mihir. It’s a seemingly happy family.
The play starts unfolding when the elder daughter comes back home citing the abuse of her husband, who was a gem found of Yogesh mehta. She questions the authority of Yogesh in the house. The play is a satirical, comical and emotional take on the patriarchal mindset prevalent in our society. It’s a fun ride filled with twists and turns, with tears and laughter, with love and pain. Mehta v/s Mehta.
