Mujeeb Khan of The Indian Drama and Entertainment Academy (IDEA) has long been known to pick up topical issues of socio-cultural relevance and to put up a play on these issues. So much so, that his group does several shows in a span of a single month at various kinds of venues ranging from the auditorium to the railway station.
Revolving around a real life incident that took place in Nagpur, India wherein a furious mob of women burnt alive a man called Aku Yadav, Mujeeb Khan's drama recalls the tragedy as a lesson not to be forgotten.
Aku Yadav thus in this new play by IDEA, becomes a metaphor for all sorts of crimes perpetuated against women be it dowry death, sexual abuse, female infanticide and others. Mumbai Theatre Guide will be regularly updating the schedules of this new play lest you may be interested in catching a news' story turned into drama.
