CHECKMATE a play in hindi, is a story of two individuals, being betrayed in love, discover a new zest of life after meeting one another. Play targets to define the value of life and true love. It also tries to resolve the concealed motivations of human extreme behaviors of all kind especially in the case of love and betrayal. The plot is constructed with a suspense storyline and intense sequences along with humorous insertions.

The play opens with a killer receiving an assignment from an unknown caller to kill a lady who is a psychiatrist by profession. Then the whole sequences happen in the drawing room of the lady who manages to stop the killer for next two hours.

The lady realizes in due course that the killer is a psychopath and being a psychiatrist she also starts her personal interest in the killer. Conversely the killer falls in love with the lady and each time when he tries to finish her, he fails. Eventually the plot turns into a suspense story among the killer, the lady and the cellar who is frequently making call on killer’s mobile.

Duration of the play is two hours with a ten minutes interval.

The characters are being played by ‘Ruby Bhatia’ or ‘Sandhya Mridul’ and Manish Srivastava who himself has written and directed the play.
