This play follows two imperial guards - *Humayun and Babur - caught between awe and horror as they stand watch over the newly completed Taj Mahal . Set in 17th-century India, this wildly comic yet astoundingly tragic two-hander explores the cost of perfection, the weight of duty, and the fragile boundary between obedience and rebellion.

Winner of the 2016 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play and the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play, "Guards at the Taj" has captivated audiences worldwide.

Now, for the very first time in Kolkata, two young Thespians present the first-ever performance of the play in Hindustani, a language that fits the era like skin. Through poetic language, raw emotional intensity, and absurdity spilled over the conversations between two lifelong friends, we promise you an evening infused with heartfelt emotions but more importantly, a newer perspective on life.
