LICENSE is a powerful and thought provoking Hindi play inspired by the writings of Saadat Hasan Manto. Set against the backdrop of societys rigid moral and social structures, the play explores the lives of people who are constantly judged, controlled, and denied the freedom to make choices for themselves. Through sharp conversations, dark humour, music, and emotionally charged moments, License questions who has the authority to decide what is right or wrong, respectable or immoral, and who deserves the freedom to live with dignity.

The play brings out the contradictions and hypocrisy within society while giving a voice to those who are often silenced. At its heart, License is a story about freedom, dignity, morality, and the invisible permissions society demands from individuals simply to exist on their own terms.

With Mantos characteristic honesty and fearless observation of human nature, the play holds a mirror to society and leaves the audience questioning: Who gives us the license to judge another human being?
