Nanhe Musharraf

By MTG editorial

The play is about Pakistan’s President General Pervez Musharraf’s youthful days that he spent with his governess Anarro when the Musharraf family spent four years in Nehar Walli Haveli at Kucha Saadullah Khan in Delhi. The governess was used to calling President Musharraf as 'nanhe', meaning small.

As the President of Pakistan when Musharraf visited India for the first time with his wife, he made it a point to see his old governess. He inquired after her health and well-being, offered her some money and asked her if she wished anything else.

Anarro’s only reply was that she wished peace for both India and Pakistan. IDEA, the theatre group committed to doing theatre that engages with social issues feels that this play will ease the communal tension between India and Pakistan and will help the atmosphere of trust that many have tried to build between the two countries.
