Based on late S N Pendse's classic novel by the same name, this wild and unconventional romance has made it to the theatre as well as the screen earlier. In both the formats, it has been a hit. Not surprising then if the 1952 love story makes a comeback again.
An illicit love story between Bapu, the resident of Garambi and a pretty widow Radha, this sensational novel was hailed for its picturesque use of the Konkan milieu. It is the story of a proud, willful man and his bitter struggle with his community that had disowned him. The struggle of one man against fate and the rigid society is the central motif of the play. Late Dr Kashinath Ghanekar had immortalized the title role, which is now being essayed by Anand Mhaskar.
