The salient feature of this classic play is that it follows its original 1966 format. This is one of dramatist Vasant Kanetkar's famous plays. It looks at the rampant corruption in the college education scenario. Principal Vidyadhar is a highly qualified Mathematician and a principled man. When one of his college students, young, hot-headed Lalya takes on the trustee's son, the Principal intervenes and refuses to rusticate him. Instead he gives Lalya a chance to reform.
But the trustee Dharmappa Shetty doesn't take to it too kindly. He avenges himself by conspiring against Pricipal Vidyadhar along with a young professor, who had been Vidyadhar's disciple. Consequently, Vidhyadhar is jailed and when he is released, he feels betrayed and insulted. He decides to get even with the wrongdoers by becoming the don of an underworld gang. Over the years, reformed Lalya joins the Police force and he's made the in-charge of apprehending the deadly don who's none other than his Guru. This emotional confrontation makes for a great drama.
