An old couple is going to celebrate its 50th wedding anniversary. The couple invites their children to take part in the celebration and they agree to come with their families. In the meanwhile, an unforeseen event takes place, which the wife (Vandana Gupte) feels it necessary to hide from her children. For her it is important that the celebration continue. It is this event that sets the tone for the second half of the play.
The children who are initially unaware of the magnitude of the event come to know of it eventually. On the face of it, the play may sound too simplistic but it is not so. The celebration that must go on reveals the nature of relationships that are not as they appear to be on their surface. The superficial and fragile surface erodes as the 'celebration progresses and the wife-mother (Vandana Gupte) while seeking to maintain the facade, precipitates the denouement.
