Surnai Theatre and Folk Arts Foundation completes 40 years in June this year. Established in 1982 by Ila Arun, KK Raina and a group of like-minded theatre enthusiasts, Surnai has staged several plays, many of them written by Ila Arun and directed by KK Raina. For the last few years, the group has also been organising an Ibsen Festival in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy. Some of Surnai's productions include JAMEELABAI KALALI, MAREECHHIKA, PEER GHANI, PEECHHA KARTI PARCHAIYAAN, A DOLL'S HOUSE, HARDIT KAUR GILL, NAMASTE, DEATH VARIATIONS, BABY BLUES, to name a few. The milestone is being celebrated with a three-day festival that includes YEH RAASTE HAIN PYAAR KE, SHABD LEELA and MIRACLE ON MATUNGA STREET.
