About Tathagata Chowdhury: Tathagata Chowdhury is Royal Shakespeare Company certified, an award-winning Actor, Writer, Director, Media Arts Educator. He founded Theatrecian - one of India’s most prolific theatre-in-English groups. And, has produced around 200 plays in over 2000 shows, in the last 24 years since the inception of the theatre group. 80 of these plays have been directed by Tathagata himself and they have been staged around the country and couple of them represented the country in international festivals. Plays directed by Tathagata include the works of Harold Pinter, Samuel Beckett, Shakespeare to Kalidasa and Girish Karnad. TC has acted under the direction of Mr. Shyamanand Jalan, Satyadev Dubey, Alyque Padamsee, Rohit Pombra, Rebecca Gould, and others.The 'theatre of the absurd' or the 'comedy of menace' has been a favorite genre, having produced, directed and acted in works by Pinter, Beckett, Albee. Tathagata teaches Theatre and Film studies for the IB curriculum and is a global IBDP film examiner. Tathagata is the winner of The Kalakranti Best playwright and best actor awards. In 2014 he represented the country in South Asian Youth Theatre festival and in 2023 he was invited to express his views on youth theatre movement at the Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Festival.
