WINDOW TAK AASHIQUI Review
A form of stage entertainment that is emerging in the theatre scene is actors performing a show that is inspired closely from their lives. This ensures that stories have a certain authenticity and colour. Manurishi Chadha's WINDOW TAK AASHIQUI is the latest endeavour in this genre and it doesn't disappoint. Overall, it is engaging, has memorable moments, endearing spontaneity and audience engagement, great music and more.
Actor Manurishi Chadha writes and performs a story and scenes based in Old Delhi. It is about two kids, Monu and Geetu, being affectionate at first, then falling in love with each other, and parting ways. Manurishi provides a visually rich narration, transporting us to the city and making us imagine the city as it was. He enriches it with several humorous moments, adequately using musicians to create unexpected banter, and proves that he is an actor of uncommon merit.
The performance covers various subjects such as how love has always been forbidden, the foibles of lovers themselves, the pressure to perform in an exam, the hold of Bollywood in our consciousness, the way the character of the city has changed over the decades,
This is the first production floated by Kathabaz Films and if we keep in mind that this is one of the early performances, what we have is something that has the potential to endure.
However, in the further editions, one hopes that the performance starts with the story early on because in its current form, the early part of the play feels dragged because the great scenes are not held together by the momentum of a story. The music by Anadi Nagar and team supports this portion very well as of now and keeps the audience happy. In fact, music is in top form in the play. In further editions, the costumes and the set design could be more resourceful even though it is pleasant already.
