�Self-with-Others� Physical Theatre Residency From : March 3, 2020 To : March 12, 2020 Start time : 10:00 AM End time : 12:00 PM Theatre Group : Madman and Me Faculty : John Britton from the Duende School of Ensemble Physical Theatre Venue : Infinite Souls Farm and Artists Retreat Vardenahalli Grama Magadi Taluk Madman and Me invites you to the �Self-with-Others� ~ Physical Theatre Residency with John Britton. The ten-day residency is a dive into Self-with-Others, an improvisation-based physical approach to performance training. This residency is an opportunity to live and learn in serene environments and experience theatre in the midst of nature. �Self-With-Others� is a psychophysical approach that encourages bringing the mind and body into every action. It is based on a set of clear, interconnected principles, the most important being the need for performers to find deep pleasure in their work. If you are not enjoying your work, you are not doing it properly. The work will focus on techniques of core performance skills including presence, liveness, spontaneity, reactivity and the detailed structuring of physical performance. DUENDE�s unique approach to training is focused on deep pleasure and deep discipline, developed through physical improvisation, structured training exercises and performance-making tasks. The work creates confident, bold and collaborative performers, and is used by artists around the world in multiple styles of performance. Each day, we will train together through a process that John Britton has been developing for nearly 20 years. Self-with-Others is the foundation for developing physical skill and presence, unifying thought and action. The work will be physically demanding and joyful. Participants will need a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to push themselves. Age 18 and above. The residency is for emerging actors, dancers, circus performers, improvisors, teachers, artists, performers and people who are willing to explore the use of their bodies, be open to new experiences, and willing to be utterly supportive of others as they work.
