Can we move in space, shrink it, magnify it, churn it and transform it using our body and the imagination? Introduced to movements, concepts, songs and rhythms from Kathak and dance- theatre, participants will be encouraged to discover their own body-signatures, dictions and accents as we begin our space travel expeditions.
Sanjukta Wagh is the Co-Founder of an interdisciplinary initiative 'Beej' in Mumbai, which is engaged in exploring the creative process, improvisation, alternative methods of classical dance pedagogy and collaborative performance. She was the Curator for Dance at the Kala Ghoda festival in 2009, 2012, and 2013. Performer, Choreographer, Educator and Curator, Sanjukta Wagh has trained under Rajashree Shirke in Kathak and Pandit Murli Manohar Shukla in Hindustani Music, by Playwright-Director Chetan Datar and Navarasa sadhana training with G Venu for Theatre.
She also trained at the Trinity Laban school of Dance (London). She has developed a language of dance theatre that uses the idiom of Kathak as the foundation and drawing from contemporary dance, theatre and hindustani music. Her choreographies like 'Faqeer Nimaana', 'Jheeni', 'Rage and Beyond: Irawati's Gandhari', 'Bheetar Baahar', 'Ubha Vitewari', 'Putana And I' have won her applause nationally and internationally. She has received several awards including the Vinod Doshi Award for significant work in performing arts, Sur Singar Samsad�s Singar Mani, British Council�s Charles Wallace scholarship.
