Wear the look, exude confidence, this is the chance. Everyone is watching. You can make it or break it. Maybe someone will snigger in the corner. But this is our chance. We are bound to make mistakes. Beneath the practiced smiles tucked behind neat corners, we are nervous. Applaud us even if you do not enjoy our performance. That is the least we ask. We are not quite there, but we try.fail.fall and stand up. We are put under scrutiny. People examine us as if we are the question that has to be answered. Maybe a single person in the audience may like what we put up, but we dream of that day when we will encourage others like us, and smile knowingly. When the lights go off, what you see is not merely a story being put into action; it is our sweat and hard work. It is the combined efforts of our entire team. It is easy being the audience. When the lights go off on you and focus on us, we put up our best performance.
And we scan the audience every now and then to see if you enjoy watching us on stage, and when you even smile, we get a good feeling. We bask in all the attention. The crowd is expectant, hungry for entertainment, but we wont join the fool's multitude by giving what everyone wants. Take it or leave it. Think for once. Do not leave your brains at home. It would be nice if you could get them when you come, so for once, we do not do all the thinking for you. Being judgmental comes very naturally, but please show appreciation and do not look so bored, it is our first time you know. We all have our firsts. Maybe if you listened harder, watched more carefully, showed more respect we could get on to our second chance.
