Summer Workshops

Purva Desai

With the writers bloc festival ending, the excitement at Prithvi continues. The atmosphere is electric, and the mood is extremely contagious. Apart from workshops at Prithvi, theatre groups like Darpan Arts organize several workshops for kids and teenagers. Theatre personality Raell Padamsee is also organizing workshops for children throughout the month of May. This comes as a relief. Because most kids under the pressure of their parents, spend their vacations studying. Holding summer workshops is increasingly becoming popular, as parents are ready to pay more and more, in order to engage their children in various activities. Most of the workshops with a play for children and conclude with a performance by the children.

Sometimes the plays performed for children are extremely interactive. Manthans play Parikrama is one such example. A sincere effort has been made by the director. Through out the play, the actors interact with children, make them laugh and even ask them for their opinions. In addition, the kids response is amazing. They never stop asking those why, who, what questions. And these workshops prove extremely useful to children, because they not only learn arts and crafts, but they also learn acting and other aspects off theatre. Not only adults, but also even kids enjoy theatre, and they seem so enthusiastic. And watching a play with children is altogether a different experience.
