UNESCO observes 20th March as World Children's Theatre Day and 21st March as World Puppetry Day. Sahitya Kala Mandal, the Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Maharashtra and the Pu. La. Deshpande Kala Academy will celebrate both events jointly on 20th March 2016.

The Association of Theatre for Young Audiences (ASSITAGE) was founded fifty years ago in Paris. It now has branches in 85 countries. Kalsootri is a member of Assitage India. The motto of Assitage is 'Take a child to the theatre'. The child's personality develops through plays and puppets shows that they can identify with.

Stalwarts from various fields like Hussain Dalvai, Amol Gupte, Anant Bhave, Sujay Dahake, Satish Rajwade, Paresh Mokashi, Fayyaz Sheikh and Shantanu Moitra have encouraged the annual programmes arranged by Meena Naik's well-known puppet institute Kalsootri. Mumbai's Mayor Smt. Snehal Ambekar shall grace the occasion this year at the Ravindra Mini Theatre on Sunday, 20 March 2016 at 6.30 pm.

Kalsootri's child artistes, now recognised TV, film and theatre actors, Priya Bapat, Shreya Bugade and Manava Naik are the chief guests. The Municipal Councilor from Dahisar, Smt. Sheetal Mhatre will also be presnt on the occasion.

The programme is free and Kalsootri invites all children and their parents to come and enjoy.
