Mythological play ISHWAR featuring actor Puneet Issar premieres on May 17 and 18, in Mumbai. The theatrical Magnum Opus by Atul Satya Koushik is presented by INT Aditya Birla Centre for Performing Arts.
To be staged at Mumbai's St Andrews Auditorium, the play stars Puneet Issar, Dipannita Sharma, Himanushu Soni, Amit Pachori and others. According to a note, "ISHWAR is a bold and emotionally stirring reimagining of the great epic Ramayana, focusing on the inner world of Lankadhipati Ravan - revealing his ambition, sense of justice, and personal dharma. The play delves into the moral complexities of right and wrong, love and power, offering a nuanced, philosophical perspective on a character often vilified in traditional narratives. With a powerful storyline and compelling dialogue, ISHWAR seeks to untangle Ravan's character beyond the simplistic portrayal of a villain."
Director Atul Satya Koushik said, "I was fascinated by the challenge of bringing to life a character that has been shunned in popular narratives. Through ISHWAR, we seek not only to entertain but to provoke thought and discussion about morality and the intricacies of human emotion."
