Gujarati theatre and cinema suffered a huge loss with the passing of prolific actor and producer, Kaustubh Trivedi, at the age of 69. He had been ailing for some time and breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai.

A nephew of Upendra and Arvind Trivedi, Kaustubh Trivedi had produced over 200 plays and acted in some of them.

Sanjay Goradia and Kaustubh Trivedi worked together as producers and co-actors in more than 100 plays. Goradia is quoted in Gujarati Mid-day, “We were partners first, and friends later. Our 25-year partnership can be considered a record in itself. We had disagreements, but never about money-always about creativity and how to make the play better."

Actor Babul Bhavsar said, "Whether or not Kaustubh was in a play with me, he would always guide everyone in the production. He was the kind of person who would stand tall for the theatre world. Everyone connected to this field will surely remember him. He helped me many times and was the most honest person I've worked with when it came to theatre. I never faced any disagreements or issues about money with him. He made every effort to make a play excellent. 'May God bless you' was always on his lips."

Producer Rajendra Butala said, "We were connected not just as producer and artist, but also as friends. His remarkable talent, nature, and vision were truly admirable. His passing is a great loss to the Gujarati theatre community. Kaustubh Trivedi was the kind of artist who would accept responsibility if a play didn’t succeed. May God grant peace to his soul, and I stand with his family during this time."

MTG conveys condolences to his family and fans.
