Manch Bihar: A New Platform Celebrating Theatre from Bihar

Artshila Patna has announced मंच बिहार (Manch Bihar), a new bi-monthly theatre initiative dedicated to creating a shared platform for theatre groups, artists, and practitioners working across Bihar. Launching in July 2026, this initiative aims to bring forward diverse theatre practices, voices, and performance traditions from the region.

The open call invites Bihar-based theatre organisations, collectives, repertories, and independent theatre practitioners to submit their productions for consideration. Selected productions will be staged at Artshila Patna, offering artists an opportunity to present their work to a wider audience while contributing to the cultural dialogue around theatre in Bihar.

Applicants are required to submit details about their group, including a brief profile or history of the organisation or collective, along with information about previous productions. They must also share key details about the play, such as the synopsis, duration, language, cast and crew size, and technical rider. The technical requirements should include lighting, sound, set or stage needs, and any other production-related details.

Groups may also include reviews, press coverage, or performance links, if available. Full performance recordings, trailers, excerpts, or accessible links from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, or similar platforms can be submitted as part of the application.
The initiative offers a performance fee, and travel allowance will be available for groups and artists outside Patna. Proposals can be submitted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

After the review process, the selected production will be notified, and the month of staging will be scheduled based on mutual convenience and coordination. Selection will be based on artistic merit, feasibility of staging, originality and relevance, and technical compatibility with the venue.

For theatre lovers, production houses, and performers, Manch Bihar is a meaningful step towards strengthening regional theatre and celebrating stories rooted in Bihar.
