Utopia Communications Announces a Powerful Season of Marathi and Gujarati Theatre

This philosophy lies at the heart of Utopia Communications, an Indian theatre group led by acclaimed director and theatre-maker Pritesh Sodha. Through socially relevant narratives, powerful performances and innovative storytelling, the group has carved a distinctive identity in contemporary Indian theatre.
This season, Utopia Communications presents a diverse repertoire of Marathi and Gujarati productions featuring some of the most celebrated names from theatre and television.
The Marathi psychological drama MRS. HITLER, directed by Pritesh Sodha and starring popular Marathi television actors Mansi Natekar and Ashish Joshi, explores themes of individuality, womanhood, free will and informed consent. Presented through a compelling play-within-a-play format, the production examines how authority can shape relationships and how control can often masquerade as care.
The Gujarati production STREE ETLE is a powerful collection of monologues that gives voice to women's experiences, emotions and untold stories. The play features writing by Geeta Manek, acclaimed for the celebrated play SARDAR, and is directed by Medha Antani. The ensemble cast includes Kimpal Ambandhara, Archana Shah, Rinku Patel, Kalpana Shah and Nupurika Rajguru.
DASTANGOI GUJARATI (PART 1) brings together acclaimed performers Alpana Buch, Bhakti Rathod, Bhamini Oza Gandhi and Pratap Sachdeo. Directed by Pritesh Sodha, the production blends the rich heritage of Gujarati literature with the timeless Urdu tradition of Dastangoi-the captivating art of oral storytelling-to create a unique and immersive theatrical experience.
The emotionally moving Gujarati play KOSHETO, directed by Pritesh Sodha, stars celebrated actor Darshan Jariwala, alongside Sejal Pondaa, Pooja Gami and Hemaksh Vaishnav. The play follows the journey of a Gujarati-language researcher battling cancer, who rediscovers hope and resilience through the poetry of legendary Gujarati poet Ramesh Parekh.
