Marathi theatre has achieved another remarkable milestone as Udgar Pune set an India Book of Records record for the Maximum people presenting an alliterative prose story simultaneously. The achievement was recognized on October 3, 2026, at Bharat Natya Mandir, Sadashiv Peth, Pune, during a felicitation held between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The performance brought together 35 artists and support performers, showcasing a creative combination of storytelling, synchronized narration, rhythm, and theatrical expression. This recognition highlights the dedication of the Udgar Pune team and celebrates the innovative spirit of Marathi theatre, where language and performance come together to create memorable experiences for audiences.

At the centre of this achievement is PUSHPACHE PRAKTAN, an experimental Marathi play written and directed by Milind Shintre. The production stands out for its unusual concept of using nearly 1,750 Marathi words beginning with the letter 'P'. These words are woven into a story revolving around the character Pushpa, making the performance an engaging exploration of Marathi language and literature. The artists underwent approximately 100 days of rehearsals to perfect their pronunciation, expressions, and coordination. Adding to the experience is an innovative sound design in which performers use their voices to create music, rhythms, and background effects instead of relying on traditional instruments. Music composed by Sai-Piyush further supports the production's distinctive theatrical presentation.

The recognition by India Book of Records, an organization affiliated with Asia Book of Records, marks an important moment for Udgar Pune and the wider Marathi theatre community. Beyond the record, PUSHPACHE PRAKTAN demonstrates how experimental theatre can preserve linguistic richness while introducing audiences to fresh storytelling techniques. For Indian theatre artists, theatre groups, and enthusiasts, this achievement serves as an inspiring example of how creativity, teamwork, and dedication can push the boundaries of live performance.
