Vishwanath "Nana" Patekar, powerful stage and screen actor, passed away on October 8, at the age of 75. Renowned for intense roles and distinctive dialogue delivery, Patekar started his acting career in theatre.

His early work in Marathi theater established him as an actor of formidable talent. Plays like Purush, Hamidabachya Kothi, Katha, Mahasagar, Jaat Hi Pooccho Sadhu Ki, became landmarks of modern Indian drama.

In 2016, in a tribute to theatre, he acted in the Marathi film Natsamrat, based on a play pf the same name. Portraying Ganpatrao Belwalkar - retired Shakespearean theatre actor struggling with off the stage-Patekar delivered what many consider his greatest performance, winning him widespread acclaim and the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

MTG conveys heartfelt condolences to his family and fans.
