Areeso Theatre is set to present SHIV SHAKTI-Ek Divya Pranay Katha, a theatrical interpretation of one of Indian tradition's most enduring stories-the divine union of Shiv and Shakti. Starring Sandip Soparrkar as Shiv and Ashmita Bakshi as Shakti, the production explores a relationship shaped by love, separation, sacrifice, devotion and reunion. Moving beyond the grandeur commonly associated with the legend, the play presents Shiv and Shakti as two beings whose connection transcends time, form and destiny. Through powerful performances, original music, expressive choreography and elaborate costumes, the production aims to bring both the divine and deeply human dimensions of their relationship to the live stage.
At the heart of the production is Shakti’s journey-from a devoted daughter to a woman determined to choose love and confront destiny. The narrative follows her relationship with Shiv through the cycle of rebirth as Sati and Parvati, bringing together moments of passion, conflict, heartbreak, divine intervention, and unwavering devotion. Shiv’s quiet strength and profound love stand alongside Shakti’s fierce determination as the story moves towards the eventual reunion of two cosmic forces. The combination of theatrical storytelling, dance, and music seeks to offer audiences an evocative interpretation of a familiar mythological narrative while highlighting themes of choice, sacrifice, resilience, and eternal companionship.
SHIV SHAKTI-Ek Divya Pranay Katha will be staged in Mumbai across two days. The first performance will take place on October 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Auditorium, Bandra. On October 25, 2026, the production moves to Bal Gandharva Auditorium, Bandra, with shows scheduled at 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. For Mumbai’s theatre lovers, artists, and theatre groups, the production offers an opportunity to experience a timeless Indian story reimagined through contemporary live performance.
