For nearly two decades, Anshu Bhatacharji has been a passionate advocate of Indian theatre, dedicating over 17 years to nurturing actors and creating original productions through Cadence Theatre Mumbai. Before entering the performing arts full-time, Bhatacharji enjoyed a successful banking career, making the bold decision to leave the corporate world and follow his passion for theatre.

That commitment has now taken an exciting new direction with MURDER OF MY WIFE #LIFE. Instead of treating theatre and cinema as separate mediums, Bhatacharji transformed the original stage production into an independent feature film using the same cast immediately after the live performances. The ambitious experiment required extensive planning, teamwork, and complete trust from the cast and crew.

Written by long-time collaborator Deepak Kumar, the project also became a launchpad for fresh talent. Many actors appearing in the film were newcomers who first discovered their characters on stage before bringing those performances to the camera. Bhatacharji, who also plays a pivotal role in the film, believes theatre remains the strongest foundation for developing authentic performers.

Despite the challenges of independent filmmaking, the project successfully completed three private screenings and is now preparing for its OTT release. What makes MURDER OF MY WIFE #LIFE unique is that the production continues to be performed on stage even after its cinematic adaptation, creating a rare bridge between live theatre and film.

Reflecting on the journey, Bhatacharji says theatre has always been the foundation of Cadence Theatre Mumbai's vision to build a production house rooted in honest storytelling and strong performances.

His unconventional approach serves as an inspiring example for Indian theatre groups, performers, and independent filmmakers, proving that innovative ideas and dedication can create new opportunities while keeping the spirit of theatre alive.
