The Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival 2026 has officially announced its call for applications, inviting theatre groups, production houses, directors and performers from across India to submit works for its upcoming edition.

This year’s festival theme, "Belonging: Through Memory, Migration, and Boundaries," encourages theatre-makers to examine how individuals and communities understand belonging. The festival seeks performances that explore coexistence, interdependence, shared histories, migration and the social and political forces that shape people’s identities.

The selected productions may reflect on the journeys people undertake in search of a home, livelihood, opportunity or acceptance. Theatre-makers can also explore different kinds of boundaries, including physical, cultural, political, emotional, social and personal boundaries. These boundaries may divide communities, create connections or transform how people live together.

Through this theme, the festival aims to create conversations about care, inclusion and collective responsibility. Indian theatre groups and performers are encouraged to present works that invite audiences to question how memories, places and inherited histories influence their understanding of themselves and others.

The Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival 2026 will be held across two weekends. Performances are scheduled for 23, 24 and 25 October 2026, followed by 30 and 31 October and 1 November 2026.

Applications will be accepted only through the official Google Form. Interested theatre companies, independent performers and production teams must submit their applications by 30 July 2026.

The festival offers theatre practitioners an opportunity to present meaningful performances that respond to contemporary experiences of displacement, identity, community and belonging.

Applicants can access the form through the link provided in Ranga Shankara's social media bio or scan the QR code published in the official announcement.
