The National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, has officially announced the Call for Entries for the 26th Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) - International Theatre Festival of India 2027, inviting theatre practitioners from India and across the world to participate in one of the world's largest theatre festivals. The festival is scheduled to be held in January 2027 across New Delhi and other cities in India and abroad.

Applications are open to theatre groups, drama institutions, theatre companies, and independent theatre directors. NSD has invited productions under eight categories: Modern Play, Classical/Sanskrit Drama, Puppet Drama, Folk & Tribal Play, Dance Drama, Traditional Drama, Jashne Bachpan, and the Academic Segment featuring student productions by drama departments and institutions.

To be eligible, productions must have already been publicly performed. Plays with a duration of less than 60 minutes and productions that have been showcased in previous editions of Bharat Rang Mahotsav will not be considered. Applicants are required to select the most appropriate category while submitting their entries, although the final decision regarding categorization will rest with NSD.

The application process is completely online through the official BRM application portal. Applicants must submit a YouTube or Google Drive link containing the full performance video of their production. The online application portal opens on 27 June 2026, and offline submissions will not be accepted.

The application fee is ₹250 for applicants from India and SAARC countries and ₹500 for participants from other countries. The last date for submission of applications is 27 August 2026.

For Indian theatre artists, production houses, cultural organizations, and theatre enthusiasts, Bharat Rang Mahotsav continues to be one of the most prestigious platforms for showcasing creative excellence and connecting with the national and international theatre community. Interested applicants are encouraged to prepare their productions and submit their entries well before the deadline.
